There will be shoes from the same stars that have been doing it for years as well as some new comers to the game.

Shoes have always taken their cue from the stars. Especially the fancy dress shoe. This year will be no different. Many new styles were on display at the awards shoe including some wooden sandals worn by Heidi Klum and some more jewel encrusted sandals worn by Olivia Wilde. They got noticed as they walked the carpet because pictures of their shoes made headlines the next day. Yes, their shoes made the headlines.

Designers have long sought after a shoe that would make the dress as opposed to being a compliment to the dress. This year people are saying that it will happen. They all expect the shoes to become a statement maker. The trend this year with shoes seem to be the color more than anything. They are looking at bright colors. Something to make a bold statement and draw attention to the shoe.

With over 30 NBA stars selling a designer athletic shoe the market is just saturated with these shoes. However for some of the lesser stars, unless you are a fan of theirs you are not going to pass up a Lebron James shoe for theirs. It just does not happen. And the manufacturers know it so they will pick and choose their NBA representatives carefully to make sure they do not fund a bust.

Among Lebron and Kobe, others will also get into the fray. There is actually a list of about 30 players from around the league that have their own shoe designs. Of course some are more desirable than others. For some players unless you are a fan of theirs directly, you will not be wearing their shoes. Not like with Kobe and Lebron. While they do not have the Jordan flair they still have a decent amount of popularity.

However athletic shoes are not just relegated to the NBA. There are many shoes that hold their own in the market from companies such as Adidas, Nike, Puma and Converse to name just a few. But with the shoe companies that have the biggest market share, all of them are excited about what they have coming out in 2011. They all declare that this is going to be a year of big shoes, big surprises and big sales. With the struggling economy starting to come around, they anticipate shoe sales to rebound as well.

New players will also delve into new markets. For example the skateboard shoe companies will try to take from the NBA shoe market. Hoping to make a type of crossover shoe that will appeal to both the jock and the skateboarding kids alike. If it works they will take a large chunk out of the market and rake in some good money in the process. This could set up one or two companies to really make a move in the coming years.

This is also going to be a year that many expect the skateboarding shoes to take a large leap as well. Many think that the DC shoe line and others from that market will make strides this year and cut into some of the other market sales in 2011. They say if that was to happen, we could see a whole new evolution in shoe design in the coming years as some styles may begin to merge. We will also see new designs hit the market as this change up will allow some new players to hit the scene also.

There just is no question about it, shoes are FUN! That is not to even mention the infinite outfit combinations we have even more FUN putting together as a result of new shoes! Shoes must both look right and feel right for the occasion. Therefore, options are needed and the more you have, the absolute better.

Styles change and so do women’s tastes. Whether high heels or platforms, square, rounded or pointed toes, flip flops or athletic, the lure of shopping for shoes is irresistible. There are just so many kinds of shoes all serving different purposes. Hours are spent in shoe departments all over the world shopping for shoes. From $5 flip flops to $500 designer name shoes there are so many things to consider. One thing is generally certain: If a woman REALLY likes a pair of shoes, whether she needs them or not, she will most likely buy them, regardless of price.

I know a couple and the wife has hundreds of pairs of shoes. The husband has but two pair, one black and one brown. BORING and oh, so WAY not enough options. What about style? And does he have dress shoes or are these two pair of the athletic variety or what? That, of course, does not include his golf shoes. Most men have at least two of those if they are like my Father and Brother, both avid golfers. Any way, he said “That’s all I need and I always have plenty of money to go golfing every weekend.” She said “You take the golfing (and your boring shoes) and I will take all the therapeutic effects of the shopping. It also is such good exercise, both mentally and physically!”

Being practical about buying shoes is so out dated.. The more shoes, the more choices. Life is good if it is all about choices, not about being practical. Practicality was for my mother, and the days of practical shopping are gone forever. Now plastic rules (along with beautiful shoes) and somehow the credit card bill will get paid. I mean if we only live once, we should certainly be spending like it. Life is way too short to not have the cutest and best shoes possible. We can find other ways to be thrifty but please do not be so when it comes to shoes. The days of the “have mores” are here to rule and the days of the “have nots” (shoes, that is) are long gone forever.

Another couple I know try to go shopping together (BIG mistake). Inevitably and much to her husband’s dismay and irritation, the wife ends up in the shoe department trying on shoes, one pair after another. A beautiful thing to see, right? She finds a pair she likes and says to her husband “I want these shoes!” Her husband replies “Do you need them?” She says “No, but they will go great with my pink dress that I bought six months ago and have never worn because I have never had just the perfect shoes to go with it. Besides, I did put back several pair that I also liked very much, but not quite as much as these. They are so ‘choice’, ‘sweet’ and absolutely the ‘most divine’ shoes I have, to date, ever seen!!!” The husband gives in, all the while thinking about the bills that are coming due.

1 -- It’s a losing battle.

2 -- Don’t go shopping with your wife – It ruins her shopping trip. Would you want us to go golfing with you? I didn’t think so. It would ruin your day.

3 -- When your wife goes shopping –Expect a marathon and don’t expect her home before the stores close—should she arrive home early it will be a pleasant surprise. If she doesn’t--Fix your own dinner!

4 -- Never call her on her cell phone and ask “Where are you?” or “When are you going be home?” Big “NO NO” and grave interruption to her “therapy”. She does not want to be in touch with reality while shopping. Trust me on this one.

Odd Shoe Finder Evolves And Joins The "green" Movement

I launched OddShoeFinder.com in 2007 after becoming aware of the millions of people around the world who must buy two pairs of shoes at a time or one shoe because of severely mismatched feet, an amputation or an injury. I envisioned users selling pairs of mismatched and unused shoes stuck in their closets to those with similar problems, but complementary shoe sizes. After six months, fewer than 150 single shoes and pairs of shoes were posted, leaving me discouraged about the future of the site.

I received an unexpected e-mail through the Web site a few weeks ago offering to sell me thousands of new, name brand mismatched shoes at one dollar each. I felt this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to populate the site, make matches with users more likely and keep thousands of shoes out of landfills.

Around the same time that those shoes were being delivered I received another e-mail from someone else offering to sell me thousands of new, name brand mismatched shoes to me for ten cents each (if they shipped them) and free if I could pick them up. I realized that this was a twice-in-a-lifetime opportunity that just happened to come within weeks of the first of the offer.

Before I had a chance to make shipping arrangements for the second batch of shoes, I received yet another e-mail through the site from a shoe manufacturer asking if I was interested in taking 3,000 shoes off their hands. It was becoming clear to me that new, mismatched shoes are an extremely common problem in stores that sell shoes - especially self-service stores and thousands of these shoes are being thrown away each year.

How do stores end up with so many mismatched shoes? Sometimes, people open more than one pair of shoes to try them on and unintentionally put one of the shoes of each pair in the wrong box. Some of those people come back to the store when they realize their mistake but others do not. Perhaps more common is people with mismatched feet intentionally switching out shoes to get one in each of their sizes, leaving a pair of mismatched shoes the store cannot sell.

With most chain stores, the mismatched shoes are sent to a central location. In some cases the chain itself sorts through the shoes and makes as many matches as possible to return to their stores and take whatever they can get for the shoes that cannot be matched. In other cases, the chain just sells the entire batch of shoes to salvage companies, who sort through the shoes to find matches to sell at discount stores.

Mismatched shoes are worth very little to shoe stores, but are potentially worth a lot to those who normally have to buy two pairs of shoes at a time. Until now there has not been an efficient way to match the shoes with those who need them.

OddShoeFinder.com is the first searchable Web site that matches otherwise unwanted shoes that would normally end up in a landfill with those who can use them. It offers business opportunities to some and low-priced shoes to millions. While it was launched for people with mismatched feet, there is no reason for users not to post their matched pairs of shoes. It costs nothing to post shoes on the site, and there are no commissions.

OddShoeFinder.com started as a very simple site. People registered with the site and posted their shoes and others clicked on "buy this shoe," triggering an e-mail to the seller including the shipping address and contact information of the buyer. Buyers and sellers decide pricing and shipping and payment methods. Users are encouraged to give feedback on the site and enhancements have been developed based on their input.

Some users complained of the inability of to communicate with each other prior to a sale, so a messaging system was added. If they decide to complete the sale then we recommend they use the "buy this shoe" button because it removes the shoe from the listings and helps the seller and Webmaster keep track of sales.

Realizing that many people may visit the site repeatedly to search for shoes in their size, only to find nothing new, we installed a feature that allows users to receive an e-mail each week to when someone posts shoes in their size(s).

A few users asked for a means of rating sellers and buyers such as those found on eBay and Amazon.com. While we have not reached that point yet, OddShoeFinder.com now has a forum where people can post information about their experiences - or anything else (in good taste, of course) they want to talk about. Many users of the site suffer or have suffered from similar health issues and we hope the forum provides a place for them to find each other for advice and comfort.
